About Heather
Heather Lowder, FDN, MTA, LEAP Specialist, HTMA
My journey began as a competitive bodybuilder. I was lucky enough to win several regional and state level competitions and in the end was awarded a pro card from the WNBF contingent upon my competing in the Ms. Universe. This is when fate intervened and my real journey began.
By all visible signs I was the picture of health. Lean, Fit, Muscular, with the endurance to run for hours. The real story was I was experiencing chest pains, panic attack symptoms for no apparent reason and just felt lousy. My doctors could find no obvious or life threatening issues so I was told I need to eat more, exercise less, and manage my anxiety better. They even suggested anti anxiety medication.
Over the years things continued to slip slowly but surely until I found myself with chronic infections, multiple food and chemical allergies in spite of following what I believed to be a healthy diet and exercise protocol. After years of searching for the right diet or workout program to help overcome these symptoms and, I might add lots of frustration, I found Functional Diagnostics and Metabolic Typing.
These programs had such a profound effect on me that I decided to become certified myself and help others. During my journey I have learned some valuable lessons:
1. We are all unique with our own unique needs (emotionally, physically, physiologically, and spiritually) and there are no one size fits all solutions.
2. While symptoms are important they are just clues the real solution comes from finding the root cause of dysfunction.
3. Exercise is good medicine but sometimes it may not be the right medicine.
4. The Human body was designed perfect it our environment and lifestyle the most often get in the way.
5. In helping someone heal the most important thing I can do is LISTEN!
I look forward to helping you navigate YOUR journey to optimal health and wellness.
